UN’s Peacebuilding Commission recommends Burundi for Fund support
16 October 2006 – The United Nations Peacebuilding Commission, in its second country-specific meeting, has decided to recommend strife-torn Burundi for assistance from a recently set-up Fund that aims to help countries emerging from conflict to rebuild and avoid descending again into bloodshed.

13 October 2006 – At its first ever country-specific meeting, the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission has decided to recommend war-ravaged Sierra Leone for support from a newly established Fund set up earlier this week to assist countries emerging from conflict to rebuild and prevent them falling back into bloodshed.
Annan launches Peacebuilding Fund to ‘kick-start’ efforts to rebuild after conflict
11 October 2006 – United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan today launched a multi-million dollar Peacebuilding Fund to help war-ravaged countries rebuild state institutions after conflict, and act as a “kick-start” for longer term donor investment in recovery efforts.
