Overview | Approved Projects and Progress Updates | Reports

The Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon declared on 8 January 2008 that the Central African Republic is eligible to receive assistance from the Peacebuilding Fund. The Peacebuilding Fund has allocated $10 million to support the Central African Republic PBF Priority Plan.

Central African Republic Peacebuilding Fund - Priority Plan

The Central African Republic PBF Priority Plan identifies the following three priority areas:

  • Security Sector Reform
  • Promotion of Good Governance and the Rule of Law
  • Revitalization of Communities affected by Conflicts

Central African Republic PBF - Joint Steering Committee

With the country funding envelope confirmed, the review and approval of project activities is being conducted in Central African Republic (CAR) in a process co-managed by the Government of CAR and the United Nations Mission in CAR (BONUCA), who co-chair the CAR PBF Joint Steering Committee (JSC). The JSC has been established at the country level to serve as the decision-making body to review and approve detailed project submissions, within the scope of the priority plan, as well as ensure oversight of PBF implementation in the country. Further information on the CAR PBF JSC, including its membership, terms of reference and rules of procedure, is available in the CAR PBF Joint Steering Committee Terms of Reference and Rules of Procedures (in French).
